Scuba Diving

You have come a long way to experience Nature's Wonderland...The Great Barrier Reef!

The best way to experience the Great Barrier Reef is to become one of the fish, and enter the world of scuba diving. You will enter a spectacular world of colour and marine life, with gardens that bloom under the sea. Scuba divers will get a chance to interact with Green Sea Turtles or our friendly resident giant Maori Wrasse "Wally" during their scuba diving adventures.

Introductory Divers

Try our FREE 10 minute Scuba Diving Lesson:
Never tried scuba diving? Why not try an Introductory/Resort Scuba Dive with our team of experienced Dive Instructors. No experience necessary! It's fun...it's safe...it's easy! Our professional Dive Instructors guarantee a fantastic first experience.

Children need to be a minimum of 12 years in age to participate in scuba diving.

NITRO Diving
Experience NITRO, Reef Encounter’s ‘Introductory Night Dive’.

No School Scuba
No testing. No license. Just fun guided diving with our team of experienced instructors!

Diving Courses

Personalised Open Water Course (SSI Open Water Certification):
The Personalised Open Water Course is ideal for previously experienced divers or confident aquatic people. Enjoy more guided dives than the open water and advanced courses combined! Eight pleasure dives are combined with six skills sessions over a 3 day/2 night period on Reef Encounter.

Advanced Specialty Course (SSI and PADI Advanced Certification):
Advanced speciality courses require divers to go that one step further. Expand your diving skills and knowledge. Five specialty training dives including: Night Dives, Deep Dives, Boat Dives, Marine Naturalist and Navigational Diving.

Certified Scuba Diving:
As a certified diver you will be able to dive with your own dive buddy or we will buddy you up with another certified diver.

If you would like your dives guided that certainly can be organised for you the price for this service is $10.00 per person per guided dive.

On the Wildside Boat Dives:
Reef Encounter’s dive tender can transport up to twenty-four scuba divers to unique and adventurous diving locations. Reef Encounter’s hydraulically lifted boat platform allows for easy departure and return to Reef Encounter’s dive deck without the hassle of re-entry into the water.

 

Some Medical conditions and or medication may stop you from participating in Scuba Diving these include Asthma or wheezing. Brain spinal cord or nervous disorder, chronic bronchitis or persistent chest complaint, chronic sinus, collapsed lung, diabetes mellitis, chest surgery, Epilepsy, Fainting, Seizure or blackouts, Heart Disease of any kind, recurrent ear problems when flying, tuberculosis or other long-term lung disease and High blood pressure.
